Knitting Norbury Together – Celebration Calendar

November 11, 2024 by LNAdmin

Since 2015, the Norbury Knitters have been meeting to knit and crochet.  Much of what they make has been on display around Norbury.  They have marked the seasons, jubilees and made things just for fun.  They’ve also made items for charities such as hats, blankets and, during Covid, rainbows and mask mates. This colourful 2025 Calendar is the start of their 10th anniversary celebrations.

The calendars cost £6.50.

Love Norbury Spring Clean 28 May to 13 June 2021

May 27, 2021 by LNAdmin

When Love Norbury was formed in 2014, one of our principal aims was to tackle the litter and fly tipping situation and improve the general cleanliness of our neighbourhood. Since then, we have had some great successes, most notably the major clean ups of the high street and parks which have removed hundreds of bags of rubbish.

However, it is fair to say the situation is currently worse than ever!

We can only realistically solve this problem if we work together as a community, to educate, encourage, deter and where necessary take action against perpetrators. Love Norbury has therefore teamed up with the recently formed Litter Free Norbury group, Norbury Knitters and our local councillors to launch a major spring clean offensive.

Between 28 May and 13 June we want to bring people together to:

  • clean up the high street and surrounding streets
  • publicise the Spring Clean campaign
  • talk and listen to local residents, business owners and shoppers
  • agree a clear set of actions that will make a noticeable difference to the state of our streets.

Our first event is a clean up on Saturday 29th May.   More details on our Events Page.

Meeting – What the new Council budget means to Norbury

March 5, 2021 by LNAdmin

Croydon Council’s financial difficulties are continuing to make news and the spending reviews are likely to affect us all.  Your ward councillors, Leila Ben Hassel and Shafi Khan, want to report back to you on the implications of the Council Budget which is to be set on 8 March.  They are keen to give you the opportunity to find out more about what has been happening and what it is likely to mean for residents.  This is a chance for you to hear about the issues first hand and to ask questions.  Cllr Stuart King, Deputy Leader of the Council will also join the meeting.

Following the successful report back meeting last December, Love Norbury is again pleased to host this meeting.  As Covid restrictions remain in place the meeting will be held on Zoom.

In advance of the meeting, the councillors have prepared an introductory message and a briefing note.

Time:              6.15pm

Date:               Wednesday 10 March 2021

Where:           On Zoom

With best wishes

The Love Norbury Committee
